The officer also observed an infant crying in the rear seat (in a child car seat). As a result of the ensuing investigation, Kari WILSON age 38 of Port Hope is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle, Care & Control of a motor vehicle while her blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle and Failing to Remain at the scene of an accident. A Brighton resident fell victim to a ‘Canada Revenue Agency’ fraud in the amount of $980. After speaking to the fraudster who claimed that he owed money on his taxes, he purchased two pre-paid credit cards and then provided the PIN’s to the con artist. Police would like to remind the public to verify with the CRA the status of your income taxes prior to making any payments and to not give out any personal information or payments until you are sure you owe them. The CRA will not demand payments immediately or you will be arrested, this is a common threat made by the fraudsters to create a sense of urgency.
