Two Drunk Drivers Caught

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two motorists with drinking and driving related offences over the course of the weekend in Collingwood.

On January 31 2016 shortly after 2:00am, an officer on patrols conducted a vehicle stop on Napier Street in the area of Ontario Street in Collingwood. The female driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading which led to her arrest and transport to Collingwood detachment for processing. Charged is 30 year-old Amanda JACKSON of Wasaga Beach, she is facing a charge of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 16 2016.

Later that same morning, OPP officers received information of a possible impaired driver on First Street near Cedar Street in Collingwood. Officers subsequently located the vehicle on Highway 26 near Huronia Pathway where the male driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at scene where further investigation found that he was in possession of a small amount of marihuana. Charged is 25 year-old Danny ARMSTRONG of Essa Township. He is facing charges of driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, driving a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol and possession of cannabis marihuana under 30 grams. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 16 2016.
