(ESPANOLA, ON)- On February 5, 2016, members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on routine patrol conducting radar enforcement on Highway 17, west of Espanola.
At approximately 4:36 p.m., officers observed a vehicle appearing to be approaching at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop for speeding.
During the traffic stop, it was determined that the male driver had consumed alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered. The driver registered a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the “Warn Range”.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph POLLARD, 50 years of age, from Webbwood, was issued an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension for three days.
The male driver was also charged with the following offences:
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
