(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past week. Here are some examples:
Feb 8:
A Campbellford business owner reported a fraudulent credit card account opened in his name. The caller also advised police that he did not receive any of his legitimate credit card bills in the mail last November leading him to believe that his personal information was gleaned from those documents by the suspects. The credit card company was notified of the unauthorized account and no money was lost. Investigation ongoing.
Officers responded to a domestic related complaint at an Alderville First Nations home and as a result of the investigation, charged the male partner with Spousal Assault. He was released with an impending court date.
Police responded to a report of a resident in Trent Hills who had self-harmed. Officers assisted EMS who transported the man to hospital with serious injuries
Feb 9:
A 50 yr old Seymour Twp man was charged with operating his vehicle on County Rd 30 in Trent Hills without insurance after an officer noticed his validation sticker was expired. The car was towed from the roadway.
A mother attended the Cobourg detachment for advice relating to her teenaged daughter sending inappropriate photos of herself online.
Police were notified of debris on Hwy 401 in the Port Hope area. Officers located a deer carcass; MTO attended and removed it from the highway.
Feb 10:
A suspicious person call on Walker Rd in Cramahe Twp at 2:30am resulted in a 38 yr old Cornwall area man being arrested and charged for being intoxicated in a public place. He was taken to the Brighton detachment and held until he was sober.
Police initiated a threats investigation that occurred in Hamilton Twp involving two persons who were in a relationship but have since broken up. Investigation ongoing.
Police continue the investigation into the thefts of Toronto Star newspapers in Brighton
Feb 11:
Police responded to a residential alarm at a Hamilton Twp home. Officers found everything to be secure.
Police assisted EMS at a Brighton home where a resident was in medical distress causing him to spasm uncontrollably. An officer road in the ambulance to the hospital and helped control the involuntary movements that could have caused harm to the patient himself and paramedics.
Police investigated a domestic dispute in Brighton that resulted in a male being cautioned for repeated calls to his ex-girlfriend. No charges resulted.
Northumberland OPP officers also responded to 10 accidental 911 calls, investigated 10 motor vehicle collisions, 21 traffic related complaints and conducted five RIDE programs.
