79 Year Old Driver Killed After Leaving Roadway

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Front Road, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, February 13, 2016 at approximately 10:48 a.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to Front Road involving a single motor vehicle collision.

Through the course of investigation it has been determined that a grey coloured vehicle was being operated by a 79-year-old female of Norfolk County, Ontario and was travelling westbound on Front Road when the driver failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway. The vehicle left the roadway, entered a ravine and traveled approximately 50 feet to the bottom where the vehicle then collided with a tree and rolled over.

As a result, the 79-year-old driver suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Front Road is closed west of Townline Road to East Quarter Line Road for approximately 5 hours to allow for further police investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
