23 Year Old Drunk Driver Caught On Hwy 21 With Marijuana

(LAMBTON, ON) – On Monday February 22nd, 2016, at approximately 12:12 a.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle traveling at what appeared to be a high rate of speed on 21 Highway, Municipality of Lambton Shores.

The motor vehicle allegedly sped into a subdivision just north of Northville where the officer observed the vehicle accelerate rapidly around corners and through a stop sign in an alleged attempt to elude police. The motor vehicle then stopped in a private driveway where police made contact with the driver.

While speaking with the female driver, the officer suspected that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and consequently made demand for a road side breath test, which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and while conducting a search of the motor vehicle, the officer located a small amount of suspected Cannabis Marijuana. The driver was then transported to the Lambton OPP – Grand Bend Detachment for further breath testing which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

As a result, 23 year-old, Kellie Lynn GILL of Bosanquet Township, ON was charged with:

Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood

Possession of a Schedule II Substance

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday April 4th, 2016.

The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
