Passenger Struck By Vehicle In Road Rage Incident – Numerous Charges Laid

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On April 23rd, 2016, at approximately 5:40pm officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Frankford Tourist Park for the report of a male being hit by a vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene information was received that a verbal altercation had taken place between the drivers of two motor vehicles along Trenton-Frankford Road. The incident carried on further along Trenton-Frankford Road and resulted in a motor vehicle collision.

The incident ended in the Frankford Tourist Park where the passenger of one of the vehicles was struck by the driver of the other vehicle involved.

As a result of the incident 52 year old Anthony POLONIO of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Criminal Code of Canada 249(1)(a)

Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident, Criminal Code of Canada 252

Criminal Negligence in the operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Criminal Code of Canada 221

The passenger of the motor vehicle was transported to hospital by ambulance and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Belleville on May 5th, 2016.
