Charges Laid In Break And Enter

Over the past month members of the Ontario Provincial Police – Central Hastings, Northumberland and Peterborough Detachments have been working in partnership to solve a series of commercial break and enters.

On March 20, 2016 a Plymouth van was stolen from Scarborough, ON and a convenience store on County Road 45 in Alderville First Nation, ON was broken into. On April 17, 2016 suspects returned and approached the building wearing disguises but they did not enter. On April 22, 2016 the same convenience store was targeted, where a door was smashed and entry was gained. In two of these three occurrences a large quantity of cigarettes, lighters and food was stolen.

In addition on April 17, 2016 a break and enter occurred to a gas station on Matthew Street (Highway # 7) in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake where again a large quantity of cigarettes were stolen.

In total, the stolen property is estimated at over $20 000.

On May 4, 2016 investigators conducted a search warrant at a residence located near Crowe Lake in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake where they recovered stolen property involved in area break and enters.

As a result of the joint investigation the following people were charged:

Cory CROCKATT, 34 years old of Marmora, ON charged with

3 Counts of Break and Enter

4 Counts of Disguise with Intent

4 Counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

4 Counts of Fail to Comply with Probation

Theft Under $5000 – Motor Vehicle

Terry CROCKATT, 36 years old of Marmora, ON charged with

2 Counts of Break and Enter

3 Counts of Disguise with Intent

2 Counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Christopher BATTLE, 67 years old of Marmora, ON charged with

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The investigation is continuing.
