Killaloe OPP Weekly Release

During the week of the 9 May 2016, to the 15 May 2016, there were 62 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

There were six motor vehicle collisions, two were animal related.

There was one domestic dispute call for service during the week of the 9 May 2016, to the 15 May 2016. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.

Assault

On the 12 May 2016 at approximately 10:22 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Claude Chartrand and Constable Lindsay Moore attended a residence in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. regarding a domestic disturbance. As a result of police investigation, a 34 yr. old male has been charged with Assault section 266 of the Criminal Code. The accused was released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions, with a court date at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Police Solve Local Break and Enter

On the 17 April 2016 members of the Killaloe OPP received a call of a break and enter into a shed, on Dam Lake Rd, in Madawaska Valley Twp. Various tools were reported stolen. As a result of police investigation, 59 yr. old Patrick PECARSKIE, of Madawaska Valley Twp. has been charged with Break and Enter section 348 (1)(b), Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, section 354(1)(a), and Theft Under $5000 section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with an Undertaking with a court date at the Ontario Court of Justice Killaloe.

Theft

On the 09 May 2016 at approximately 2: 46 p.m., Killaloe OPP Sgt. Bruce Sawbridge received a call of a theft, on Queen Street in Killaloe Hagarty and Richards Twp. A stihl chainsaw was stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestoppers at 1-800 -222-TIPS.

Theft from Bus

On the 11 May 2016 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Killaloe OPP received a call of a theft on John Street in Madawaska Valley Twp. A bus had been entered and the fire extinguisher and first aid kit stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crimestopppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 15 May 2016 at approximately 9:39 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jason Golds attended Burnt Bridge Road in Brudenell Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. regarding a motor vehicle collision. Subsequent to police investigation, a 17 yr. old male has been charged with Careless Driving, section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act and Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act. The accused was issued a summons to appear in court.

Traffic Stop Charges

On the 11 May 2016 at approximately 1: 44 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jordan Bullis initiated a traffic stop on highway #60 in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. As a result of police investigation, 37 yr. old Zachariah LOBACK has been charged with Use Plates Not Authorized, section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act and Operate Motor Vehicle No Insurance, section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The accused was issued a summons to appear in court. The vehicle was towed.

Police Week 15 May – 21 May 2016

Police Week in Ontario is an annual event dedicated to promoting crime prevention, recognition, and awareness of police services in the community. It is also an opportunity to commend current police officers for their dedication and commitment in keeping our communities safe.

This year’s theme “Discover Policing for Safer Communities” is a continuation from last year, inspired by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Discover Policing Expo. The Expo aims to promote the profession of policing in Ontario and showcase to potential recruits the diversity a career in policing has to offer. The theme also supports the on-going collaboration between the police and community to help create safer and stronger communities in Ontario. Use the hashtag #PoliceWeekONT.

The Killaloe Detachment of the OPP will be hosting a Marine, ATV and OPP Recruitment meet and greet venue on Thursday the 19 May at 2:00 p.m., in Madawaska Valley Twp. at the Train Station on Opeongo Line. This meet and greet venue will showcase the career diversity of the OPP and promote education with regard to boat, ATV and water safety for our community members. The Killaloe OPP encourages the community to attend this event, to learn the basics of boat, water and ATV safety.
