(ESPANOLA, ON)- On May 18, 2016, members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Lee Valley Road in the township of Sables-Spanish Rivers.
At approximately 3:36 pm, officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male driver who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program.
Officers detected the odor of marihuana emanating from interior of the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, police located and seized a quantity of drugs inside the pickup truck.
The driver, Jessy LESSARD, 27 years of age from Massey, was arrested and charged with the following: Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on July 12, 2016, to answer to his charge.
