Two More Impaired Drivers Caught

(NORTH BAY, ON) The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people for impaired driving offences over the long weekend.

On May 21, 2016, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP Marine Unit were conducting patrols on Marten Lake, McLaren Township, when they stopped a vessel to check for safety compliance.

When speaking with the operator of the vessel, the officer detected a strong odour of alcohol coming from the operator’s breath. After further investigation, the driver, William FETTER, age 30, Milton, Ontario, was arrested and charged with Operate Vessel with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on June 7, 2016.

On May 22, 2016, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a member of the North Bay OPP stopped a vehicle on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay, Ontario, after noticing a traffic infraction.

Upon further investigation, the driver, Lauren THOMPSON, age 22 of North Bay, Ontario, was arrested and charged with Driving with More Than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, section 253(1)(b)CC.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on June 7, 2016.
