(NEYAASHIINIGMIING, ON) – On May 27, 2016 at 1:25 a.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a serious single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision on Lakeshore Boulevard, Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation. The Bruce County Emergency Medical Services, Chippewas of Nawash Fire Department, OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team and the Cape Croker First Nation Police Service, also attended the scene.
A 21-year-old female passenger from Saugeen First Nation was transported to a local hospital and then air lifted by ORGNE Air Ambulance to a London Hospital; where she is in serious but non-life threatening condition.
An 18-year-old male driver, from Neyaashiinigmiing, was arrested for impaired operation at the scene and transported to the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment. The test resulted in the driver being issued a 3 day warn with a driver’s licence suspension.
Lakeshore Boulevard was closed for approximately five and a half hours and has since been opened.
The investigation is on-going.
