(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On June 13, 2016 members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of boat equipment floating on Georgian Bay north of Pointe au Baril. The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton received a call from a boater that observed the items.
Investigation revealed that a 58 year old male has been camping on Georgian Bay for the last month. He is an experienced canoer and has been making this trip yearly. He was last spoken to by family on June 3rd.
The West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit, OPP Helicopter and OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) continue to search for the missing man.
