(DERBY TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 20, 2016 at 8:10 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Concession 5 and Sideroad 6, in Derby Township.
Police investigation revealed a small school bus was travelling northbound on Concession 5 and entered the intersection. A 2006 Mazda which was eastbound on Sideroad 6 collided with the school bus.
The driver of the Mazda, a 17-year-old, from Tara, was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver did not receive any injuries.
The driver of the school bus was treated and released on the scene.
The lone 9-year-old passenger on the school bus was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and was treated for minor injuries and released.
The intersection was reopened by Grey County OPP at approximately 9:30 a.m.
