(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 19, 2016 at approximately 8:18 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a threats complaint that occurred on Conestogo Lake in Mapleton Township.
Investigation revealed that a group of youth were water skiing on Conestogo Lake at approximately 7:00 a.m. when they were approached by a man operating a vessel at a high rate of speed. Words were exchanged and the man intentionally rammed his vessel into the youths vessel causing minor damage and left the scene.
43-year-old Gabriel LEITE of Kitchener has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Vessel and Fail To Remain At Accident Scene contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 23, 2016 to answer to the charge.
