(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On July 23, 2016 at 7:16 a.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 69 in Wallbridge Township. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Britt Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene. Investigation revealed that the driver fell asleep while driving and crossed the centre line going into the ditch and hitting a rock cut.
The driver, Jason GRAY, 42 years of age from Windsor, was transported to the hospital by EMS. He was charged with:
· Drive while disqualified – Provincial suspension contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
· Drive while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
· Careless driving contrary to the HTA.
· Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero contrary to the HTA.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, on September 1, 2016 to answer to his charges.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
