(BRAMPTON, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division’s (HSD) Highway 407 Detachment are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on the westbound lanes of Highway 407, at Mississauga Road in the City of Brampton.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on July 24, 2016, a 1948 Chevrolet was travelling westbound in the right lane when the motor vehicle sustained a mechanical defect with the right rear tire. The driver of the Chevrolet lost control veering into the path of a coach bus. The bus collided with the Chevrolet redirecting it to the right ditch where it came to a rest and was subsequently consumed by fire.
All three occupants in the Chevrolet sustained fatal injuries. The identities of the deceased will not be released until all notifications to the next of kin have been made.
The coach bus had 50 occupants, there were no injuries reported from in the bus.
The westbound lanes of Highway 407 at Mississauga Road were closed for approximately six hours for the investigation.
The collision investigation is ongoing and witnesses are requested to contact the Highway 407 Detachment and speak with the investigating officer, Provincial Constable Saini at 905-841-5777.
