(TWEED, ON) – On September 7, 2016 at 2:40 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a motor vehicle collision on Old Hungerford Road near Birch Lane in the Municipality of Tweed.
A southbound car moved to the right shoulder after it met a northbound farm truck in a curve. The car hit a pedestrian walking northbound on the west shoulder. The pedestrian, 62 year old John COURNEYA of Tweed, ON was transported by ambulance to hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The 21 year old female driver of Madoc, ON sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed until 9:00 p.m. as the investigation was assisted by OPP East Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigators.
