Collision On Carriage Road – Driver In Critical Condition

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – At approximately 4:46 p.m., on October 11, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Middlesex Centre Fire Services, and the Middlesex London Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision on Carriage Road at Littlewood Drive.

A black BMW car travelling westbound on Littlewood Drive collided in the intersection with a black GMC pickup truck, which was travelling northbound on Carriage Road. Littlewood Drive is governed by stop signs.

The driver of the car, a 32-year-old female from Central Elgin, Ontario, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance with life-threatening injuries to hospital, where she remains currently listed in critical condition.

The four additional occupants of the car (one adult male and three children) were transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and all subsequently discharged.

The female driver of the pickup truck was assessed by EMS at the scene and released.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result, Carriage Road was closed from Jones Drive to Littlechurch Drive, and Littlewood Drive was closed from Bells Road to Bodkin Road. The roadways have since been re-opened.
