(MATTAWA, ON) – On October 11, 2016, members from the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Crime Unit, West Parry Sound Crime Unit, Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit, Northeast Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine, executed multiple search warrants at residences in the Mattawa area.
As a result of the investigations six individuals were arrested and charged.
Over 140 marihuana plants, monies, firearms and ammunition were seized.
As a result of the investigation, marijuana grow operations were dismantled and the estimated street value of the marijuana seized is approximately $185,000.
Sophie BELLEHUMEUR, 38, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition (X4) contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada(CC),
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) CC.
She was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa, Ontario, November 9, 2016.
Kevin MATTE, 39, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition (X4) contrary to section 86(1) (CC),
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 92(2) CC.
Carole MAXWELL, 58, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking-under 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana) contrary to section 7(1) CDSA,
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition (X4) contrary to section 86(1) (CC).
Dean MAXWELL, 37, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana), contrary to section 7(1)CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking -over 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition contrary to section 86(1) (CC).
James MAXWELL, 59, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana), contrary to section 7(1)CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking -under 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition (X4) contrary to section 86(1) (CC).
Tracy MAXWELL, 36, of Mattawa, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana), contrary to section 7(1)CDSA,
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking –over 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or ammunition contrary to section 86(1) (CC).
They were held in custody and were to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario.
