(GRAVENHURST, ON) – On Thursday, October 13, 2016 just before 2:00 a.m. a Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting general patrol in the town of Gravenhurst when he became concerned about the driving behaviour of a vehicle traveling hauling a trailer on Muskoka Road North. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Muskoka Road North and ultimately the truck stopped crossing both lanes of the road.
As a result of the investigation it was determined that the attached trailer had been stolen from a business in Barrie as were some of the items inside the trailer.
The driver of the vehicle, 53 year-old David HUTCHINSON of Bala, ON was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
Driving While Ability was Impaired by Drugs CC 253(1)(a)
Possession of Schedule II substance CDSA 4(1)
Possession of Schedule I substance CDSA 4(1)
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a) X 2
Failing to Surrender Licence HTA 33(1)
Fail to Surrender Permit for Trailer HTA 7(5)(b)
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle HTA 12(1)(d)
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 15, 2016.
