(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – During the second week of the Festive R.I.D.E program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has checked approximately 294 vehicles. As a result of these R.I.D.E. checks, two drivers have been charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).
On Monday November 28, 2016 at approximately 9:00 p.m. OPP had a R.I.D.E program set up at Highway 592 and Novar Road, Perry Township. A vehicle approached the program and subsequently the driver, Timothy BALL, 32 of Huntsville, Ontario was arrested and charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b)CC and driving while ability impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) CC.
The accused was released by police and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday December 22, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.
On Saturday December 3, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m. OPP had a R.I.D.E program located at the intersection of Boundary Road and Main Street in Novar, Perry Township. A vehicle approached the officers and subsequently the driver, Sarah STURGEON, 27 of Huntsville Ontario was arrested and charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC.
The accused was released by police and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday December 22, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.
Almaguin Highlands OPP would like to remind motorists that if you have a few drinks, have a designated driver, stay the night or call a taxi.

OPP ARREST MISSISSAUGA MAN WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING
(PERRY TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a Mississauga man with numerous offences after receiving a call for assistance from a motorist who ran out of gas on Highway 11.
On Sunday December 4, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m. the OPP attended Highway 11, just north of the Novar exit to assist a male driver. After speaking to the driver, police arrested the male, Dillon CORREIA, 25 of Mississauga Ontario with the following offences.
• Identity theft, obtain or possess another person’s identity information, contrary to section 402.2(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).
• Care or control over 80 miligrams, contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC
• Obstruct pease officer, contraty to section 129(a) CC
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC
• Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC
• 10 counts of fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1)CC
• Six counts of possession of a credit card, contrary to section 342(1)(c) CC
• Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice, contrary to section 403(1)(d) CC
The accused was held in police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on Monday December 5, 2016 in Parry Sound Ontario.
