East Algoma OPP Press Releases

(BLIND RIVER, ON) –On the early morning of December 3, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., a westbound vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check. The officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverage and was arrested.

As a result, Sherrie BABIWASH, 42 years of age, from Mississauga First Nation, Ontario, was charged with:

Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253 (1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on January 5, 2017.

FEMALE ARRESTED FOR BREACHING HER CONDITIONS

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – Shortly after 9:30 a.m., on December 6, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to unwanted person complaint to at a local secondary school in the Town of Blind River.

When police arrived, they located an older female who was not to be in the school. Further investigation determined that the female was on condition not to be in the company of anyone under the age of 18 years old.

As a result, Kimberly RIVERS, 41 years of age, from Blind River, Ontario, was arrested charged with: Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on December 6, 2016.
