Drunk Driver Caught In Perth East – Name Released

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Friday December 9, 2016, at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Program on Line 36 in the Township of Perth East.

A pick up truck entered the program and upon speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had alcohol on his breath. The driver also admitted to consuming alcohol prior to being stopped by police. The driver completed an Approved Screening Device at the roadside and failed.

The driver was placed under arrest for operating motor vehicle over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mls of blood. He was subsequently transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilizer and registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 54-year-old David DUNSMOOR from Stratford has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 19, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his truck will be impounded for a week.
