(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – Today at approximately 2:44 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Town of Minto Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence located on Victoria Street in Palmerston, Town of Minto.
The residence sustained significant damage in the fire. While crews battled the blaze and searched the residence, the body of a deceased person was located.
The investigation is still in the preliminary stages and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit along with officers from the Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) are investigating this incident.
Investigators from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were notified and will be attending.
Victoria Street is closed between King Street and Lowe Street and King Street and Queen Street.
