Youths Facing Drug And Liquor Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Saturday June 18, 2016, around 12:10 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol stopped a car with four teenage males on Blanshard Street in the south end of Mitchell for a minor Highway Traffic Act violation. While speaking with the driver officers detected the odour of raw Marihuana inside the vehicle.

The teens were placed under arrest and a search revealed that three of the males were in possession of Marihuana. All four males were also found to be in possession of liquor.

The three males in possession of Marihuana have been charged with “possession of a schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams”, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. They will have to appear at Stratford Youth Court on July 04, 2016 to answer to the charges. In addition all four males have been charged with “person under 19 years having liquor”, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.

One of the males resides in St.Marys one is a Township of Perth East resident, while two of the males are residents of Stratford.
