(ZORRA TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) was called to a theft in progress shortly after 11:00 p.m. at a rural residence located on the 33rd Line in Zorra Township.
A suspicious pickup truck was seen on the property and fled the residence upon seeing the residents approaching. The homeowner followed the suspect vehicle and a short distance later, police were able to intercept the suspect vehicle. A pursuit was initiated when the vehicle failed to stop for police. The pursuit ended when the vehicle lost control and entered the ditch at Oxford Road #33 and the 14th Line. The vehicle became disabled in the field a short distance from the intersection and two suspects fled on foot.
A 16 year old female from East Zorra-Tavistock Township, who cannot be identified pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested shortly after fleeing the vehicle.
She is facing the following charges:
Flight from Police – Contrary to The Criminal Code of Canada
Trespass/Prowl near Dwelling House – Contrary to Trespass to Property Act.
The male driver of the vehicle is still outstanding. The vehicle involved, a 1999 Chevy Silverado, grey in colour was seized and towed from the scene. The investigation is continuing.
