On August 20, 2013, at 3:17 p.m., the Guelph Police attended to the area of Burns Drive and Nicklin Road after receiving the complaint of a suspicious vehicle and male. Investigation alleges that two male youths were approached by a man in a vehicle on Burns Drive. The male asked the boys to come with him but they refused. The male tried to convince them but they continued to refuse and he finally drove away. He was last seen on Nicklin Road heading towards Brentwood Avenue.
The vehicle is described as a silver, older model mini-van, possibly a late model Dodge Caravan, with rust around the wheel wells, and tinted windows that had a slight purple hue.
The driver is described as a heavier set male in his fifties, bald, with a round face, clean shaven, and with a pale complexion. He wore larger, sliver rimmed glasses, a white T-shirt with black horizontal stripes, blue jeans and a silver watch on his left hand.
