YATES – Drunk Driving, Run Stop Sign

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On March 5, 2016, at approximately 1:46 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic driver.

A motor vehicle accelerated westbound on Queen Street near Dorchester Road, proceeded to fail to stop for a stop sign at Bridge Street, and made a U-turn.

A traffic stop of the black Ford sport utility vehicle (SUV) was initiated. Officers determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath tests.

As a result of the police investigation, 39 year old Glenn YATES, from Thames Centre, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with disobey stop sign – fail to stop.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on April 28, 2016.
