Wrong Plates Leads To Numerous Charges

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On November 21, 2016 at 12:43 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on regular patrol duties on Highway 108, north of the City of Elliot Lake.

Police observed a southbound vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. Investigation revealed both front and rear license plates not being registered to the appropriate vehicle.

Brandon ROTH, 23 years of age, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

Use plate not authorized for vehicle, contrary to section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Drive motor vehicle – No license, contrary to section 32(1) HTA

Drive motor vehicle – No permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) HTA

Operate motor vehicle on a highway – no insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 4, 2017.
