World War One Machine Gun Stolen From Vehicle

(SOUTHWOLD, ON) – On the 27th of October 2016 Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into the theft of a World War One machine gun. An unknown suspect(s) entered a vehicle on Talbot Line in Southwold Township sometime after 8:00p.m. on the 26th of October.

The World War One Chauchat machine gun is inoperable and used for re-enactments.

The Elgin County OPP is reminding the public that the need to remove visible property in your vehicle should be a priority when stopping would be thieves.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact Elgin County OPP at 1-519-631-2920. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.
