Woman Wakes To Find Intruder Going Through Purse – Residence Was Locked

(Goderich, ON) On November 15, 2010 at approximately 4:45 am, a resident of a St. Vincent Street apartment woke up to find a male inside her home going through her purse. The woman yelled at the male who then fled. In the darkness, the victim could see that the male was wearing dark clothes and a dark toque.

Officers including the OPP Canine Unit were called and the male was tracked out of the residence, over a fence and was possibly heading towards Caledonia when the track could no longer be followed.

The victim was not harmed in this incident. The apartment had been locked. This is a reminder to all to ensure that locking mechanisms are strong and work well. Your residence is only as secure as the weakest entry point.

Anyone with information about this suspect or the crime is encouraged to call the Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or CRIME STOPPERS- 1-800-222-T.I.P.S. (8477).
