(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Rideau Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation after a woman was rescued after driving off of a boat launch.
On May 11, 2018 at about 11:55 P.M O.P.P officers were advised that a female had just driven off a boat launch in Rideau Lakes Township. OPP arrived within 5 minutes to Forrester’s Landing Drive to find a fully submerged vehicle about 50 meters out from land in Upper Rideau Lake. An OPP ERT (Emergency Response Team) member and a volunteer firefighter dove into the water and assisted the female from her vehicle to safety.
Lifesaving efforts were commenced and the 57 year old woman was transported to hospital in Kingston where she remains in critical condition.
The investigation continues.
