Yesterday morning, shortly after 10:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a woman driving a white Pontiac Montana northbound on Hillyard Street in Chatham. The officer queried the licence plates and learned that the insurance status on the vehicle was listed as unconfirmed.
As a result, the officer initiated a traffic stop on Grand Avenue East to further investigate. Through investigation, the officer learned that the woman’s insurance had been cancelled in January 2014.
The 43-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance. She was issued a summons to attend court in August.
