Woman Carjacked At Knifepoint

(HALIBURTON, ON)- On Monday, December 28, 2015 at approximately 7:00 pm a lone female was seated in her car in downtown Haliburton waiting for it to warm up. She had just left her place of employment. The driver’s door was suddenly jerked open and a male holding a knife and wearing a black bandana ordered the female to get out and run. She complied and left the vehicle without injury. The Ford Focus was then driven off in an unknown direction.

After 911 was called officers in a large area were notified to be on the lookout for the subject vehicle. A short time later the vehicle with two males aboard was located headed southbound towards Bobcaygeon. The vehicle was stopped by police. Both males were arrested without incident and taken into custody and transported back to the Haliburton Highlands Detachment.

Charged is Dustie UPTON, 51 and Glenn HIE, 48 of Haliburton County. Both are charged with: 1) Robbery with a weapon 2) Possession of property obtained by crime 3) Theft of Motor Vehicle. Hie is further charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both males were held for a bail hearing in Lindsay on December 29, 2015.
