On December 19, 2013, police responded to Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint. The woman placed several items in a grocery bag and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at approximately $162. The woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date.
On March 4, 2014, the woman was required to attend court at 9:00 a.m. Shortly after 9:00 a.m. her name was called in the courtroom and in the hallway and she failed to respond. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
Around 6:00 a.m. this morning, the 31-year-old Chatham woman turned herself in to police headquarters. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
