Woman Arrested For Dog Theft

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) – Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Street Crime Unit, are investigating the theft of SIMBA, a 5 year old Golden Retriever, which was stolen from the Tottenham area.

The accused attended a family event near Tottenham on December 19, 2015, and asked to take the family dog for a walk. At this time she fled with the dog and has refused to return it, claiming that she “lost” the dog. Investigators believe that SIMBA is in the Ancaster area and whoever knows the dog’s whereabouts is probably unaware of the circumstances.

On January 13, 2015, OPP charged 50 year old Wendy LEWIS, of Ancaster, Ontario with Theft Under $5000.00 in relation to the theft of SIMBA.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of SIMBA is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 705-434-1939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimestoppersdm.com.
