Woman Arrested After Trying To Avoid RIDE

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Colborne Street west in the County of Brant on February 20 2016 at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Police watched a vehicle approach the RIDE location then turn into a closed business parking lot in attempt to avoid police.

Police attended the location of the Red 2009 Dodge Caravan and determined that the female driver had consumed alcohol.

OPP investigators have charged 33-year-old Melissa WILSON of the City of Woodstock with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to answer to the charge. If convicted, the offender will be subject to the Criminal Code penalties, including a fine or jail time, and a driving prohibition.
