The Guelph Police would like to remind everyone that the warm temperatures this week are expected to increase snowmelt and runoff to the river system. Risks at this time include potential for ice jams as flows build in the river system and initiate ice movement over the next few days. Banks adjacent to rivers and creeks are slippery and when combined with cold, fast-moving water pose a serious hazard. Parents are encouraged to keep their children and pets away from water courses and off any remaining frozen water bodies.
