Wingham Hospital Buys Wingham Public School

At tonight’s council meeting, it was disclosed that the Wingham
Hospital is buying the Wingham Public School.  Due to
regulations, the school board can’t sell the property to a
Hospital.  The school board can sell the property to a
Municipality though.  So in an unfathomable moment of lucidity
and logic, the town decided to act as an intermediary so the hospital could acquire it before the scheduled auction.

Now if council could do something about the lack of industrial land
for development, or getting a share of property taxes from the
properties we service in Morris-Turnberry, there might start to be a
light at the end of the tunnel.  But let’s be realistic, it
took three years for their first act of competency, it is unlikely
there will be another.
