(CALEDON, ON) – On Friday, November 25, 2016 officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on King Street at Mississauga Road, in the Town of Caledon.
Officers stopped a male operating a black Hyundai Elantra at the R.I.D.E. check. Upon speaking to the male driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A demand was made of the driver to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device, and after failing the test he was arrested and transported to Caledon Detachment.
As a result of the investigation, William MCKNIGHT, 63 from Brampton, was charged with operating a Motor Vehicle More than 80 mgs of Alcohol.
The 90 day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on December 7, 2016.
