(BRIGHTON, ON) – On March 20, 2014 at approximately 7pm, Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the corner of Bowes Rd and County Road 2 in the Municipality of Brighton.
Upon arrival, officers located a car in the ditch with a male still seated inside.
The male displayed signs of impairment and was arrested for having care and control of a vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Brighton OPP detachment where results of his breath tests were well in excess of the legal limit.
A small amount of Cannabis Marihuana was located on his person and a further check of the male’s driver’s licence revealed that he was a Novice Driver requiring a Zero Blood Alcohol level while operating a motor vehicle.
William MABEE 26-years old of Brighton is charged with the following offences:
Care and Control While Impaired
Care and Control over 80 Milligrams
Possession of Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 Grams
Novice Driver BAC Above 0.
MABEE was held overnight due to his high blood alcohol level and later released. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brighton on April 1, 2014 at 9:30am.
