(CALEDON, ON) – On July 19th, 2015, two wild boars weighing approximately 150 lbs. were observed roaming in the Centreville Creek Area. The Caledon OPP contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and collectively we are attempting to locate the boars.
On July 25th, 2015, local residents from Sunshine Mountain Drive and the area of Innis Lake Road and Finnerty Side Road reported further sightings.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is advising residents in the area to not approach the boars and to treat them like other wildlife. Wild boars can be unpredictable and dangerous if cornered.
For the safety of the community, residents are requested to contact police if they are observed in the area.
The Caledon OPP is warning residents to be vigilant when out walking their pets. The wild boars have a potential to spread diseases and can also jeopardize livestock or crops.
