Whitney HAWKINS – Stolen Property, Drive While Suspended, Resist Arrest

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Sunday, June 21, 2015 at approximately 8:05 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a 1997 Chevrolet pick-up truck on Cavan Street, Markdale, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands as a result of a stolen validation sticker on the licence plate.

Once stopped, the driver quickly exited her vehicle and ran towards the cruiser yelling at the officer who explained the reason for the stop and instructed her to calm down. She continued to act erratically and resisted arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Whitney HAWKINS, 29, of the Municipality of West Grey, was charged with possession of stolen property and resisting arrest under the Criminal Code. She was also charged with driving under suspension and using a validation not furnished for the vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act, as well as fail to have an insurance card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, July 30, 2015.
