(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On December 16, 2015, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 401, near Elgin Road.
At approximately 9:51 a.m., a white Chevrolet cargo van was travelling westbound, when officers observed the rear left dual wheels separate from the vehicle, and roll into traffic.
One wheel stopped on the inside median. The second wheel continued westbound, and entered the outside ditch. Neither wheel struck any other vehicles.
The driver was able to pull the vehicle over to the outside shoulder.
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) was contacted immediately, and is investigating the incident.
