On March 29th 2014 at 10:40pm the Hanover Police Service was called to a break
and enter in progress to a commercial building in the 200 block of 10th Street in
the Town of Hanover.
Members of the Hanover Police Service with assistance from members of the
West Grey Police Service located a male suspect in a nearby apartment and
arrested him without incident.
The investigation determined that the suspect was attempting to gain access to
the building through a locked window when he was confronted by two citizens.
The suspect admitted to the citizens that he was trying to break into the property
before leaving the scene on foot. The suspect never gained access to the building.
The Hanover Police Service has charged a 42 year old male from West Grey with
attempted break and enter to the commercial property and breach of probation.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Walkerton bail court
on March 31st 2014.
The Hanover Police Service would like to thank the two citizens who observed this
crime in progress and immediately called police by dialing 911. The observations
and actions of these citizens led to a quick arrest of the suspect.
