(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was busy on area highways this weekend stopping the preventable act of drunk driving. At an almost ridiculous pace, local OPP were arresting and charging drivers for driving while drunk. In one incident, officers where dealing with two offenders at the same time. Here are the incidents where drivers were charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and/or Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code. In each incident a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday September 30, 2017, OPP arrested a 29-year-old male after he drove into the back of two stopped cars on Highway 9, Harriston. Luckily no one was seriously injured. He was also charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday October 1, 2017, OPP arrested a 27-year-old male at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. He was also charged for not having a valid driver’s licence.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday October 1, 2017, OPP arrested a 21-year-old male at an R.I.D.E. check on the Hanlon. He was in possession of marihuana and faces novice driving offences as well.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday October 1, 2017, OPP arrested a 46-year-old female at an R.I.D.E. check on the Hanlon.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday October 1, 2017, OPP arrested a 26-year-old male at a traffic stop in Elora.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sunday October 1, 2017, OPP arrested a 24-year-old male at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the Hanlon. He was also charged for not having a valid driver’s licence.
