Have you ever gotten a flyer in the mail that was only printed on
one side, and thought the blank side was wasted? In the 90’s,
a couple businesses would get together and split the costs of a
flyer dump in Wingham, each took a side and they split the
costs. Their cooperation cut their advertising costs in
half. Inspired by this, the new Weekly Community Cooperative
Flyer takes things a step further, and is being done on a zero
budget. All design and printing costs are donated,
distribution costs are zero, and everything is done on a volunteer
basis.
Participating businesses agree to hand out the flyers to all their
customers, or distribute them as they see fit. When they run out of
flyers, they simply email for more. This helps ensure too many
aren’t printed every week, and eliminates distribution costs.
If you are already a have a business in Wingham, thinking of
expanding your business, or starting one in Wingham, you can take
advantage of this totally free advertising platform.
Participating businesses are encouraged to offer deals, coupons,
advertise their weekly menus etc. A Community Calendar is
included in the flyer, detailing the week’s upcoming events.
How to get your free advertising:
Well, you are going to have to find a participating business to get
a flyer, the contact information is on there. The goal is to
increase the Public’s awareness about local businesses, so if you
want your free advertising, you are going to have to visit shops in
town to until you find a flyer.
Success depends on the honor system, and the number of businesses
that participate. If you want people to shop local, you have
to let them you exist, and what you have to offer.
Space/Preference/Priority will be given to Wingham based service
groups and businesses. Those in the surrounding area will be
considered if space permits and/or if they can help with
distribution.
