Weekend Update – Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 115 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On April 22, 2016 at approximately 10:16 p.m., officers from the Orillia OPP were dispatched to a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 northbound. Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 12 at West Street South. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene.

Jonathan NIEMINEN, 30 years old of Port Hope, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on May 3, 2016.

On April 23, 2016 at approximately 1:35 a.m., an Orillia OPP officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Atherley Road at Forest Avenue South. After further investigation the officer arrested the driver at the scene.

Laura MCISAAC, 29 years old of Ramara Township, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. She was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on May 3, 2016.
