Weekend Update – Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the holiday weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 174 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. until Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, numerous motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On December 25, 2015 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Orillia OPP officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Mississaga Street West. The vehicle went into a ditch on Karen Crescent and the driver was arrested.

Kevin MOUNTNEY, 31 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. He was also charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on January 12, 2016.

On December 28, 2015 at approximately 7:23 p.m., Orillia OPP officers attended the scene of a vehicle collision on Westmount Drive South. Officers arrived on scene and located a single vehicle that had hit a hydro pole. The driver was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

Lee HANINEC, 22 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on January 19, 2016.
